SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur II, 309-379. Drachm (Silver, 21 mm, 4.16 g, 3 h), Kabul(?). Draped bust of Shapur II to right, wearing mural crown with korymbos; deteriorated legend around, ‘mzdysn bgy šhpwhry’ = ‘mazdēsn bay Šābuhr’ (‘The Mazda-worshipping Lord Shapur’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons flanked by two attendants; bust to right in flames; ‘lʾst’ = ‘rāst’ (‘true’ in Pahlavi) on altar shaft; to left and right, pseudo-Pahlavi legend. Göbl type Ia/6a. SNS III/2, type Ib1/3a. Struck from somewhat worn dies and with two minor scrapes on the obverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.
